Growing up in the city of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, as a kid I was never shy about my fondness for all things West. Somehow, in my childhood I had developed some strong xenocentric tendencies. I’m not saying it’s right, it’s just how I was influenced as a kid. I ate up everything that came from the West – television, food, music, you name it. I seemed to be focused on America and all things American. America seemed to the birthplace of awesomeness, full of bright and shiny objects that drew me in like a Star Destroyer’s tractor beam. (Actually, that analogy holds more water than I care to admit.)
And the more I learned about and experienced Western culture, the more I grew ethnophobic – I became quickly dissatisfied with life in Kuala Lumpur. I had miserable teenage years. Not just average miserable teenage years like a lot of kids had – I had this weight on my shoulders about the country I lived in, the people around me, my surroundings, my whole outlook. In hindsight, I was probably just another ungrateful little shit who didn’t appreciate what I had, but rather moped about how green the grass was across the Pacific. I was an insufferable shit as a kid (I haven’t changed much).
But I was unwavering in one ambition that I had when I was a kid – one day to get the hell out of Dodge.
I am privileged to have parents who planned well enough to be able to send me to college abroad (I’m nowhere near as prepared, my kids are so screwed). Nothing super fancy or prestigious, just a modest college experience. Malaysian colleges were never an option, but I’ll get into why in a minute. Long story short, I left for college in New Jersey, then found a good job in New York, and I never moved back to Malaysia.
I now call New York home. When asked where I’m from, I typically reply, “I’m from New York.” Which fucking kills me, because it’s not the whole truth. But it saves me from having to explain this whole Malaysia backstory. It saves me from having to bite my tongue about the disdain that I’ve grown for my country of birth. A moment of me being slightly disingenuous saves me from having to deal with my own self-loathing and what complete and utter disappointment at my former home country.
So, why am I so fucking down on Malaysia, the land of my birth, my childhood country, the country in which 90% of my immediate and extended family still live?
It starts from the top. Malaysia is like an upside down tree. The roots are at the top, planted in a toxic pot that gets no illumination from the sun. These gangrenous roots are the government. A government that is held together by only the finest grade of corruption and greed. A government that is driven by the ethnic majority.
Ahh, the ethnic majority. You see, Malaysia is comprised of three large ethnic groups – the Malays, the Chinese, and the Indians. The Malays, who are native to the land, opened up the doors to the country to the Chinese and the Indians during the Spice Trade because Malaysia sits precisely at the perfect maritime gateway between India (who wanted Chinese tea), and China (who wanted Indian spices). That’s the super dumbed-down version of that story. What do I look like, Wikipedia? If you want more detail, Google that shit.
Fast forward 500 years later, and somehow you’ve got a ruling class with a constitution that openly favors the ethnic majority, exercises extreme prejudice, and an inculcated environment in which the ignorant are rewarded and the hardworking masses are told to shut the fuck up and keep working.
No fucking way, right? There’s no way that such a retarded country can actually exist! I mean, it’s so fucking outlandish that it’s absolutely farcical at this point. Like some insane Monty Python sketch. Yeah, well check these out:
- Bumiputera discounts. “Bumiputera” is what the Malays call themselves. Princes of the earth. Can’t you just feel the ooze of racial entitlement? Basically, if you’re Malay, you’re entitled to massive discounts on all sorts of big dollar shit. You get a lower interest rate on mortgages, you get discounts, you get preferred acceptance into organizations, contracts, colleges, etc. If you’re Chinese, Indian, or any other ethnic group, you’re fucked. You get the privilege of paying top dollar, and you wait in the back of the fucking line. Lucky you!
- Pizza Hut. Shit like this Pizza Hut commercial make even the most retarded used car salesman commercial in America look like a Clio winner. Marriage proposals in a Pizza Hut. Made over what is arguably the most disgusting looking food in the world it can’t even be called pizza at this point. But neither the premise nor the pizza are even close to being the most grating things about this commercial. It’s the fact that everyone’s wearing sweaters. SWEATERS!!! IN MALAYSIA!!! Where it’s consistently 100-degrees year-round, with so much humidity, you could walk outside and do the backstroke. This is the retarded standard of Malaysian advertising, of Malaysian creativity, of Malaysian cultural reflection – everything is poorly aped and incredibly shitty. This Pizza Hut commercial is a perfect 30-second microcosmic film that sums up the country.
- Mat Rempit cops. Where the fuck do I begin with this? Let’s start with what the fuck a Mat Rempit is. According to Wikipedia, they are “an individual who participates in illegal street racing”, usually involving underbone motorcycles (colloquially known as Kapcai) or scooters.” In other words, they’re shitty biker gangs who ride shitty bikes, trying very hard to pretend that they’re fucking hard. It’s a fucking pathetic subculture. And now we have some genius politician who thinks that he’s “thinking out of the box” by wanting to employ these Mat Rempit shitheads to be something of a volunteer police force.
- Gay and lesbian symptoms. I. Shit. You. Not. Just keep in mind that these are guidelines that have been developed, ratified, and are being rolled out by the Ministry of Education. This shit comes from the top! Make sure you read the article in the link a couple of times over. I’ve read it about 6 times now (woah, that might be a gay number!), and I still can’t decide which part fucks me off more. Is the use of the term “symptoms”? Is it the fact that someone actually came up with a list of these symptoms? Is it the suggestion for “corrective measurements [sic]”? Or is it the picture of the fucking asshole in the article that makes me want reach through my screen and beat the living shit out of his fucking stupid asshole face? Could be any of those. Most likely it’s all of it. If Malaysia wasn’t such a tiny little pissant insignificant little turd of a nation, this rampant act of bigotry might incite some fairly significant outrage. But as it is, no one gives a shit about the insufferable boil that is Malaysia so no one outside of the country draws attention when shit like this goes down. And because no one makes a massive fuss about it, the powers that be live under this delusion that what they’re doing is perfectly OK and everyone else is OK with it. What a bunch of assholes.
So what makes Malaysia stupider than other horrible countries around the world? How’s it different from destitute countries full of despair like Sudan or Liberia? In those countries, you live every day knowing full well that everything’s fucked and no one lies to you about it. In Malaysia, there is an ever-present bullshit haze of hunky-doriness that somehow allows everyone carry along each day as if everything’s cool. But underneath of it, EVERYTHING’s fucked, you’re fucked, the future’s fucked, and the impenetrable system that perpetuates an endless cycle of greed and corruption has been perfected. That, for me, is the most hurtful thing about living in Malaysia – the grand lie and the forced acceptance of that lie.
I write this freely because I now live in New York. If I lived in Malaysia, these words would likely tantamount to treason. And I’d probably be locked up and beaten for it. The government has been known to lock up and persecute citizens for a lot less.
But I needed to write all this down not because I’m angry or trying to be insurgent. I’m past that now. I’m writing this because I need to somehow exorcise Malaysia from my being. Because enough is enough.
Fuck you, Malaysia.
P.S. I’m grateful for my friends and family who are still in Malaysia, who despite my repeated urging, have chosen to remain there, either by choice or by circumstance. I respect their decision, and I can only pray the best for them. Besides, they’re the ones who keep me informed of all this bullshit. And for that, you guys fucking rock. You know who you are.
I enjoyed reading your story about the stupidest country in the world. Thank you.
KickDes i certainly echo your sentiments 🙂 hope we can meet up someday, I am in NYC too. We can exchange more views/thoughts/slams
Having Patrick Teoh, the original master troll commend your post. Winning.
Kick Ass Article!
God i love the straightforwardness!!!!
woah..this is one EPIC post! Im afraid to agree with u cause then my ass might get locked up since im still in this shithole.
be glad,,u still can live without being homeless like most of the Americans are
I realized you are just hard core defending Malaysia. I see more beggars by the street of Tun Razak than there is in the streets of Michigan. I see more and more people having to shut their stores compared to Michigan. Hun, give us stats! I see more people getting locked up in Malaysia for stating dissatisfaction than people being shot in Michigan. He love New York… have you thought maybe cause he’s been discriminated? Been pushed around? I for one will step up right to your face and tell you that I’ve been discriminated during my time in Malaysia and am not afraid to tell people like you who is merely a follower that a country is well when the citizens are happy! I see more people gathering for Bersih than any other thing! So if you’re gonna stick around and bash on this article and every single person who agrees with him, I suggest you leave. Cause I for one will sit here and tell you down and fight every single point that Malaysia can do to improve and the bunch of thinking that the politicians there can do before opening their mouth and signing papers! I love the bunch of people I got to know during my 13 years of stay in Malaysia and I truly do. But you cannot disregard the fact that Malaysia’s government is in fact, poorly guided!
Sincerely,
A person who has been born and raised in Malaysia, yet am proud of being a Singaporean and a student in Michigan!
LOL Born in Malaysia makes u a malaysian~even if u migrated to Singapore doesn’t makes u a real Singaporean. How funny when a malaysian kept claiming his Singaporean-ness.
FoolishPoliticians! : Correction, Jalan Tun Razak do not have that many homeless, try Jalan Tun Perak instead 😉
dimensionsiemens: Please drive around Chow Kit, Dang Wangi, Jalan Tun Perak, Bangkok Bank near Jalan Tun H.S Lee and many more places around KL city centre after 11pm daily and see for yourself how many homeless people are there in KL before talking about other countries.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpgMzK25zEA the zenith of malaysian adverts.
U mentioned “I write this freely because I now live in New York. If I lived in Malaysia, these words would likely tantamount to treason”
Oh really? How is it different whether it is treason or not based on where u live?
Have u revoked your citizenship in Malaysia and are u an American citizen now?
Treason or not, it all lies in your WORDS, definitely not where u live if I’m not wrong.
Oh, and.. living under the delusion that everything is perfectly ok? No one makes a massive fuss about it? I beg to differ.
Explain the thousands and thousands at Bersih and the other demonstrations and peaceful protests.
he is being lied to about the ”land of the free”’, since the Patriot Act was implemented, if he is wrongfully labelled as a terrorist with prejudice then he would know how good Uncle Sam is to him..
There is a lot of validity in what you say . Yes, Malaysian have finally woken up to the Bullshit that has covered our eyes since 1957.
however, Bersih or no Bersih, there is a call for new leadership, new politicians (liars the lot are) and fairness to all. Does this not ring a bell if you have studied your Malaysian History properly?
In all truth, when the opposition has won and Barisan Nasional (fuck wits!) are clensed from this earth, what is stopping the new ruling guys to start all over again?
It’ll just be the same Zoo but different monkeys. why? because it would take generations of change to wipe the mind set that has rooted itself in not only the education system but the society itself.
If Malaysia is to truly rise from the ashes, the first step would be not a name of a country that has the majority race in it (“Malay” sia) butone where all races can sit down and decide a new name and a new future.
To those of you still in Malaysia, I take my hat off to you!
Bersih is to protest as what mat rempits are to real bicker gangs….small, insignificant and quite pathetic. I doubt he (the writer) truly gives 2 shit if he’s found to have committed treason, clearly. But he is spot on with Malaysians living in blind ignorance and acceptance of their shitty government and their shitty policies.
You want Real change, it won’t happen because you nicely ask for it once or twice a year by making a camping trip to the middle of the city centre. You will have to forcefully take the power away from those who wield it. If the government actually reacts by arresting one or two, do you get scared and stop? No. If the government kills a hundred or two, do you stop then? No. You protest and fight and do it again, for weeks at a time, for year after year…then maybe, just maybe, you will take the first step in change. This is how Burma, Thailand, Indonesia and so many neighboring countries to Malaysia found their change. And change they have. Burma this year has a president who is in the running for a Nobel Peace Prize while Malaysians still wanna practice reverse apartheid (bumiputra). Indonesia is going to lend the World Bank 1billion dollars. They are broke no more. Thailand has a female head of state now, a country that made more revenue While the capital was under siege compared to a normal year in Malaysia.
Change, happens because effort was made, and Follow Up was done, despite everything that is an obstacle. Malaysia….phuiiii. No back bone. No change.
Wow. Well since we are on the topic of looking at our neighbors. Burma has a president who is in the running for a Nobel Peace Prize but remains silent on the genocide carried out against the native Rohingyas, by the majority Buddhists. Don’t know what that is? Google that shit.
Indonesia is lending to the World Bank but has a system which is far more corrupt than Malaysia. And not to mention that only a few years back there was that horrible riot where Chinese Indonesians were hunted down like dogs. I think they locked a few of them up in a mall and burned it to the ground. This was conveyed to me by my Indonesian friend who saw it with her own eyes. Or so she says.
Thailand currently has unrest in its southern provinces which has killed thousands. They had the whole protest thing for months. “The reds” vs “The yellows” and what did that achieve? The sister of the former Prime Minister (who by the way was convicted of corruption and went into self imposed exile) takes power. What has she done to bring her brother to justice?
Your argument that ” You will have to forcefully take the power away from those who wield it:” is complete and utter BS. We are a democracy. In the last general election the Opposition won 5 states from the ruling coalition. No incidents arose from this. No riots. No bloodshed. No Malays going out to cause mayhem like the owh so dreaded May 13th riots. We are making progress and changing the government one election at a time. That is effort and that is follow up. So what are you taking about?
“He is spot on with Malaysians living in blind ignorance and acceptance of their shitty government and their shitty policies.” Fuck that. Real people, real Malaysians, stay and fight for change and what they believe in. They don’t run away to other countries. And more importantly they do it the right way, through the ballot box. Not through force.
Happy Malaysia Day.
I bet you are a loser dude. get a life out side malaysia if malaysia is so fuckup as what you written above. get out of malaysia & take nothing that you earn here with you, get out of malaysia & never comeback. i challenge you!
He aparently has.. Have you not been reading? but everyone is given the freedom to have and express thier own views.. I must say i do beg to differ some of his points but he more or less is right about this country.. He may have turned his back on it.. And sad as it is i respect him and his guts to come out.in the open.. I am still living in malaysia because running away will never solve anything. what ever said and done i am still proud to be a malaysia and i still have faith that malaysia will change..
too bad he still a malaysian citizenship…
Ask ur family members get out of Malaysia as well~ Worry they will only got fucked in this fuck up land.LOL.
i think he is,,another namewee in the making
I beg to differ. At least this writer can express his opinion and feelings coherently. Namewee is an incoherent little piece of shit who can’t string a proper sentence without sounding like a complete retard, let alone hold a compelling argument. How can he expect anyone to take him seriously if he says things like “I’ll cut off your kukubird”? He can’t even make the right sounds to even sound remotely musical. Namewee is the end result of radiation exposure.
dimensionsiemens: haha…well, a coward one in the making….because he’s out there that’s why he dares to say this things…..
to whoever the author is: well, there’s no perfection on earth…there are always pros and cons…its just a matter of whether u’re in a well privilege or under privilege country….that’s it…
we (those who chose to stay here) believing that change wil come, its just a matter of time….not like some cowards, drag their butts out and start chirping around on websites, because they’re already outta Malaysia….
well to whoever who wrote this “stupidest country in the world” ….. haha …..u’re very immature…..
Get a life, everyone knows Malaysia sucks because of our government!! And, never ask citizen to get out of the country, its kinda similar to what those asshole in the parliament did!!
Thanks for that! Some of us here need the kick!
Haha. lovely insights you got here.
I find the PizzaHut advertisement irrelevant. I think Mrs PM is the epitome of everything that sums up what Malaysia has become… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PmAy81VSjQ
Re: the Pizza Hut comment I cannot agree more. Imo it discredits slightly all the other valid points he made (albeit very crudely).
fuck you motherfucker! you arrogant little shit. you were born in Malaysia but you hate it like you found a dog shit in ur pants. who the fuck are you to tell that everything is fucked up?? the one who really fucked up is you..you had a fucking miserable time when you were a kid because you are mentally fucked up. no one at fault. you’d be glad your ass is not in malaysia, if not you would be fucking dead. i really know your type. the type that blame everything to others and dare not to look at a mirror because deep inside you, you know you’re just the little faggot who hates everything.
good one.
“you’d be glad your ass is not in malaysia, if not you would be fucking dead.”
maybe that’s the problem. he can’t say his opinions because deluded Malaysians like you can’t stand it when people say anything about your beloved Malaysia.
I love my country and all, but it’s people like you who make me wana move the next opportunity i get. Stop making assumptions and just accept that people like and dislike things.
OMGosh gimme a break, the reason why you shifted to america is malaysia ain’t? didn;t it give you motivation.. for your info Pizza Hut is an American Company if you didn’t know.. how the heck does profanities help? when you don’t even have your facts rite.. is our government corrupt.. maybe, but are the people corrupt, maybe people like you.. but the people are not! Hate doesn’t get one anywhere.. you don’t like change it, condemning doesn’t help.. he should be glad, cause there are other who love it, and who maybe got a rough childhood, who think the bumiputra thingy should be abolished,, but hating hah, love baby love, love your country, and then that love can overcome it.. we’re quite widespsread around the world, JimmyChoo MicheleYeoh LeeChongWei NicolDavid KLCC F1Sepang…..!
how much do you know, when foreigners think we’re beautiful, you spit in your own face.. don’t like your country, renounce it then, then make all theses silly comments.. cause then we wont care cause you’re an outsider you’re not MALAYSIAN to understand.. ❤ ❤
“you’d be glad your ass is not in malaysia, if not you would be fucking dead.”
It’s people like YOU that made people like HIM and ME, have a miserable time growing up in Malaysia. Every person is entitled to their own thoughts and views. As well the the freedom to express them.
This endemic inability to take criticism or even a difference of opinion, has been ingrained to the point where mobs, threats and violence are how you deal with things. It never fails to make me sick. Every. Single. Day.
Totally agree with you here. Freedom of speech for all. I too escaped from M’sia years ago and have never looked back. Some of these people attacking the writer is so out of touch. He’s talking about the corrupt ways of the government. He did not condemn the average Joe Block who still live there. After all he still has family & friends there as I have as well. Also for those ignorant people, it doesn’t matter if you were born in Malaysia. If you migrate and give up Malaysian citizenship to take up citizenship of another country then you belong to that new country and have as much right as people who were born there. I was born in Malaysia but have New Zealand citizenship so I’m now a New Zealander NO longer a Malaysian.
wow! is that all you can say?
must be coz you know its true but can’t do anything. Just kneel down and let BN give you a good turkey slap….!
Lol, I smell a BN cybertrooper. Let it be faggot lapdog, your Master definitely ain’t paying you enough to attack insignificant blogs like these. Go prey on “bigger fish” will you? Good doggie 🙂
Wow, sounds like you should be saying that to yourself. Anger issues? what a waste of time and lack of intelligence.
If you think living in West Malaysia is bad, you don’t know what we go through here in the east, we get our rights stepped on, resources plundered, our constitution perverted, the illegal immigrants here have outnumbered the largest ethnic race we have (Malay is not considered bumiputera here by the way) North Borneo is a beautiful place, no matter how far we go, we always come back to our land no matter what, so it saddens me to see what is happening to us after joining Malaysia 49 years ago.
totally with you brotha (sista) . Borneo would be at a much greater state if we hadn’t made that deal with the devil – in fact, perhaps we would have excel to greater heights than mainland itself? Look at Brunei, they’ve got the idea and clearly made the right decision. x
We definitely would have, just like Singapore, Sabah was on the brink of leaving Malaysia back in 1976 because the promises in our 20-points agreement were not met, but sadly the only leaders that cared about us died during the double 6 incident which was said to be a murder conspiracy.
Exactly man, 49 years ago we have made the wrong decision. Singapore was quick enough to realize this and pulled out. 31st August our national day? Only a holiday for East Malaysia. East Malaysia did not joined the West Malaysia to form Malaysia on 31 August. It is the independence day of Malaya. Why do you want us to celebrate that day with you? I think it’s non of our business. Sabah and Sarawak do not have an independence day yet until we come up with a leader like Lee Kuan Yew who has the leadership to lead us all to pull us out of this shit hole.
Look at Singapore, a small island with the population of around 5 million equivalent to the population of Sabah and Sarawak, prospered throughout the years as the country with the highest density of millionaires and is already a developed nation many years ago. Malaysia is still waiting for 2020 (highly unlikely) to become a developed nation with high income. With the same population, Singapore, one of scarce land and extremely limited natural resources, able to grow and prospered the citizen, delivering high quality education and lifted the standard of living. Compared to East Malaysia where natural resources are abundant and lands are vast, many places are poorly developed and many people still live in poverty. Just by trading our natural resources, the oil, the timber, oil palm and tourism is enough to feed the entire population (of as little as 5m to fit in a small island like Singapore). Those natural resources which I often call endowment from God can significantly raise our standard of living but this is not the case. Where did all the money go? Is there really a problem with the Government? I am waiting for a day which Sabah and Sarawak can be independent and if one day that happens, I hope the talents from Sabah and Sarawak once “exported” will be wise enough to fly back to help develop this newly established nation. Our independence is not a dream, it is possible and it is just a matter of time.
and yet you guys voted for BN?
* A lot of the East Malaysian vote that went to BN is either bought or from the countryside where people are not so well-informed. Last elections there were massive rallies in cities such as Kuching that were pro-DAP. It is indeed very sad what has happened to East Malaysia. How greedy can some people be?
To be candid with u, u take the easy way out. U let others do the donkey job of bringing down the corrupted & evil regime. Still u have assholes supporting them. Maybe they are opportunists & shameful apple-polishers of low mentality.
Malaysia, the stupidest country in the world? Allow me to ‘update’ you, because I ‘fucking rock’.
We WERE the stupidest country in the world. After you left and stop dragging the country’s IQ average down to hell, we’re doing way better.
Good riddance.
cool mate
Hei… didn’t i see you at Najib’s house for lunch?
die quickly nagger, everything will gonna be ok then
don’t forget to mention mat rempits are also robbers, rapist and murderers
Well thank god you are so far away from Malaysia. BTW, you are too awesome for Malaysia anyway.
this writer have defecate his own brain..just say u hate the Malays ””’kan senang”’ (if he/she still know Bahasa )why u gotta go all the way and be disheartened by the Malaysian situation..good for you..U lived in NY,,the US gov runs a false flag and lied to U also U do not care or know..killing innocent peeps everyday.by the millions (it is not genocide anymore it is democide) also you prefer that country over your own..embrace NY.and embrace the US…once u r caught by the NSA,TSA under the new NDAA act or the Patriot Act then u know..u will be put in FEMA camps then u know..THE US is going backward by implementing archaic laws, Malaysia already abolished the ISA and the US is just starting..it.Have you ever heard that ” ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY”. Malaysia is a country that is plus minus 50 years old since the so called independence ,,give it some time,at least now people have more voice and avenue to express their views on how to do things better,,if Malaysia is so bad why do Singaporeans flock over to be a PR or a citizen of Malaysia or buy homes in Malaysia since their country is ”’better” than Malaysia.
U forget to mention that many Malaysian flock over to be a PR or a citizen of Singapore too. Lots of my friend had became PR of Singapore. Get a life
to work there mate, not live there .. they eventually will come bck to malaysia because we are not as archaic as them. Singapore is built on citizen taxes that their ppl cannot even afford them anymore .. thats why they always come bck here
“Fast forward 500 years later, and somehow you’ve got a ruling class with a constitution that openly favors the ethnic majority, exercises extreme prejudice, and an inculcated environment in which the ignorant are rewarded and the hardworking masses are told to shut the fuck up and keep working.”
how true….how much more we could be if the real smart and hardworking are rewarded
BECAUSE ITS CHEAP OH MY GOD. AND THE LIFESTYLE AND CULTURE IS NEARLY THE SAME AS SINGAPORE PLUS ITS CLOSE TO HOME. ARE U STUPID OMF
Oh so you are one of the singaporean in Malaysia? The subsidy is for MALAYSIAN you stupid. Go back to your country. If your government is good, go and ask for subsidy. Stop shopping grocery and buy gas from Malaysia. Oh and Singapore was a MALAY land, you know that right? Stop acting like you are from there. You guys has no place here on the MALAY land.
wow! you must be waving the Proton flag around the world as well!
And if you must know 250,000 Malaysians left Malaysia in 2010 becuase Malaysia was so awesome the radiance of that awesomeness blinded them to leave!
And by the way, Didnt i see you at Najib’s house for lunch?
Good lord! That sir is a facile argument. 250,00 Malaysians left? So what? Jesus we are in the age of Globalization. People move across borders all the time. Shit its been happening for ages!
100% supported
Those who try to ignore history tend to repeat it. Even if Malaysia is the “Stupidest” country in the world, you can’t change the fact that you were born and raised here. You don’t need to be proud, you don’t have to love it. You just have to admit it.
I think the title should be changed to the Most Stupidest Ex-Citizen of Malaysia Living In an Insolvent Country (USA) ..they are broke and owned by the banksters
And Malaysia is the most awesome country in the world because we pay $180,000 for a Toyota Camry with 200% tax on it?
You go man!
Tax is tax. The US has some pretty stupid tax laws too.
Woah people CALM DOWN!!! No use getting so worked up over this.. Everyone is entitled to their own views and has the right to speak out.. Though there are somethings here which I do not agree with but, this person speaks the truth be it not the entire truth but truth nonetheless.. He deserves respect at the very least for having the guts to speak up..
That being said I do however feel sad for him.. There are so many things good and great about this country and all he chooses to talk about it the bad.. but than again this post clearly reflects on the type of person he is and for that I am glad he has “moved” on because to be honest a man that can turn his back on his own country, his land of birth, his home is not a man at all. He is a coward yes a real coward..
This post has been an eye opener for me and I hope it has been for everyone else who has read it.
I now direct my attention to the writer himself.
Did you feel proud when Lee Chong Wei won the silver medal, or when Pandelela made history?
How could you forsake your own home? You have the knowledge and a voice why not stay and fight like the rest of us? Is there any glory in saying that when my country needed me most I ran away? Wouldn’t you much rather be the minority who even with all odds against them ushered in a new era? Do you want to leave this world knowing when “we” needed you most you cowered away and hid like a child.
*We in this context is Malaysians, your friends, your family, anyone you ever held dear that are still in this country fighting for our rights..
A superb, well articulated response!
I’ve lived abroad for the last 6 years, and a month from now i am voluntarily coming back to “the stupidest country”. And that’s because love it or hate it, it is still home. Your home is only as good as you make it.
So refreshing to hear such level headed, serene response to all the mud-slinging so far. I totally agree the writer had guts to ventilate how he felt about his land of birth and like Malaysian feel glad for him that he’s out of the birth land that made him so bitter yet sad that he did not have the faith nor guts to stay and fight for his right.
Great response. But everyone’s forgetting another reason why we still and always will love our country. THE FOOD! Our food is awesome and it is the one thing in Malaysia that brings us together. Think about it. Mamak stalls, food stalls at the market. Though our leaders may be corrupted and racist. The people aren’t. Well the majority of people aren’t. Sometimes you can’t just look at the leaders of the country but the people too. We Malaysians represent our great nation. So it is important to never give up on our country cause there’s alot of us who want the same thing. Peace and equality between the people. May the Almighty watch over and bless our great nation and its people. Amin.
yup.. heads off to u
I’m afraid you’re just talking shit here. You sound just like the person who didn’t manage to get away and is now so bitter and green-eyed that you condemn the people who had the opportunity to leave and make better lives for themselves. Who says we all have to stay behind and cop the shit the government dishes out to everyone except the so called elite bumis? Strike while the iron is hot. Obviously your iron never got turned on. I’d say the last person to leave turn off the lights.
Interesting read.. For someone whose moved to Malaysia recently and decided to leave the Middle East, I agree with some points and disagree with others.
No place in the world is perfect. As you said, you have eaten up everything that came from the West “television, food, music, you name it.” and like it or not, this has taken a huge part in the stand you are taking.
No where in the world is perfect, or near perfect. Even the US.. I bet you know that more than anybody else.
I think leaving something behind and bitching about it, ain’t gonna help. If you are writing all of this out of your heart and the fact you really feel sorry for what is happening in your own country, then you better have a plan to fix it and come back.. And that plan should be in progress. It doesn’t have to be a reformation, or revolution or something.. But something that you know you can help the people of your own country with.
Otherwise, I think it’s a great way to drive some noise about Malaysia..
From a Middle Eastern perspective, and this is something that many of my Malaysian friends (across races) learned about from me.. I always tell them that Malaysia is looked up to as a great example in the Middle East in some countries..
Although it is too early for me to decide, but yes I do like Malaysia and I consider it as a potential home for me and my kids in the future.
I did enjoy reading the post nonetheless 🙂
As good as middle east? In terms of dictatorship maybe.
ahhhh, land of the free, home of the brave, must be good is it? living american dream, calling shit to place you born,
i donno man, i think i rather be some stupid guy who drink teh tarik kaw in some stupid country rather than some new-york hispster instagram-ing wannabe who spend his day in starbucks blogging about a country which you are not experience yourself
haha, with the new malaysia internet act, you should be careful on the internet too
a little tweek around vpn and a little bit proxy-ing can go a loong way i guess?
and yeah, maybe our malaysia a little sucky compared to some places across the globe and being traveled to a few places overseas myself kinda conformed this, BUT i think there’s no place more comfortable than the one i call home
maybe iam getting old or something?
Found your post interesting enough and you do raise legit points and issues + problems w Malaysia though I end up wishing you hadn\’t wrote it. Another tragic \’truth\’ about Malaysians is that they tend to hold blog rants like this with the same regard university professors hold the scholarly journal. You\’ve now shaped the views of so many Malaysians (most of whom don\’t have the privilege to leave the country should they choose to) who don\’t necessarily have it that bad to thinking our country is absolutely fucked up and there\’s nothing they can do about it. I know Malaysia\’s no New York, but so are many places and fact is I love Malaysia despite its failings – it\’s a place I\’ve made the conscious choice to continue living in because I believe it can and will change.
Articles like this just spread the hate and ignore the (albeit, small) beauty of Malaysia, killing spirit that WANTS to help the country, something I think Malaysian internet has totally ignored. We\’ve heard this tired argument time and time again, and it gets nothing done, does nothing constructive. Does it encourge people to fight corrupt government? No, it makes them apathetic and disdainful.
Would have loved to been able to read your article and laughed it off, taken it as entertaining light reading for the day, given me something to think about for a little while. But seeing how my friends reacted to it and discussed it on FB, I can\’t help but feel it\’s like setting up a diving board for sheep to jump off a cliff.
My friend, i admire your faith in Malaysia going to change someday. However, I’d like to advice you not to hold your breath. The biggest change that will have to happen will be the change in the constitution (which will require a referendum) And I’m VERY sure that all of the sheltered bumiputeras will gladly give up their privileges (for college, universities, scholarships, goods) to stand on equal ground with everyone else.
I have genuinely Malay friends who disagree with the NEP. How some “Malays” who have about 5% Malay blood in their veins who get those benefits you mentioned. How I as a third generation Chinese should have equal rights and benefits as the others – because I’m born and bred in Malaysia as they are. They may not be the majority, but change is inevitable – and it will come. I believe it.
There are a lot of things wrong with this post. First of all MATE, if you want someone to take you seriously, there is no need for such profanities. Secondly, Malaysia is not just comprised of Malays Chinese and Indians. Before you go on about how Indians are oppressed- take a moment to consider the ACTUAL native people of the land, for west malaysia itll be the Orang Asli, and the Natives of East Malaysia. We the natives have been robbed of everything, do you see cussing the country that has done that to us? I am not condoning nor am I unaware of the wrongdoings that happen on a major scale by the powers that be, and I understand your initial frustration with the unequal status that bumiputeras get, but to go on and insult and condemn the people/residents/citizens of this country is just malicious and to be quite honest, extremely infantile.
I’m afraid I have to reiterate what your parents have probably been telling you for years; that is GROW UP. Everyone has problems, but not everyone goes on writing hate speeches generalising a whole country
Well…a couple of corrections I would make are…
1. Technically speaking, the Malays are colonists, rather than the Natives of the Land, who are called Orang Asli in West Malaysia. (Similar to the USA with the Anglo-Saxon Americans and the Native American First Nations.)
2. The Bumiputera includes the Orang Asli and Malays of West Malaysia, while in East Malaysia, the Bumiputera are the groups like the Kadazan-Dusun, Murut, Iban etc etc.
But yes, I understand your point of racial unfairness. I don’t believe Bumiputeras should have any more rights than others since everyone around the world has been an immigrant from somewhere else if you go back far enough.
omg so true. i was thinking that as well. malays are NOT the natives. this goes to show that a) the writer knows little abt what malaysia really consists of and b) the malaysian government also are not concerned abt what malaysia is really all abt because if they really did then the REAL bumiputeras will get what they’re entitled to instead of only receiving attention during election times when politicians go abt their usual ass-kissing sprees.
Had a good chuckle. Refreshing to hear someone let it all hang out without having to worry about being mature, level-headed or politically correct correct correct 🙂 A lot of what you say rings true… but I won’t be a bit surprised if, once your love affair with New York fizzles out, you’ll discover that America is just as stupid as Malaysia – only a far more colossal scale!
commercials.
cops.
government.
don’t mind the stuff that comes out of the tv. its all nonsense anyway.
but whatever material i’ve read above, its all just funny things , because its true. funny because its true, except of course, the bit about the government being greedy and the Bumiputera issue. we’re worst then Mississippi in terms of racial hatred. to be fair, this racial issue is just about 50-50, sometimes you get it, sometimes you don’t.
the least i can enjoy being a malaysian is the culture and food. perhaps some issues can’t and never will be straighten out, but for now, lets watch what escalates and what will go through a downfall.
this has got to be some of the worst drivel i have ever read. any one that call’s their own land ‘the stupidest country on the planet’ is clearly an ungrateful and disloyal person. I’m not even Bumiputra and I don’t feel so strongly against our country. We have pros and cons. Perhaps you should do some research on what’s going on in america as well, before making such a strong stand. There are preachers than ask parents to ‘beat the gay out of children’. Almost 25% of the Mid-West believes the world was created in 7 days. There are countless streets you can’t walk through at night cos you’ll likely get shot. It’s okay to like America better than Malaysia. But its not okay to make inaccurate and sweeping statements that only present a small section of reality and insult an entire country. As a malaysian, even as a gay malaysian, i thank you for ridding our country of the foul wasteland that is your mind. we surely have much work left to do in fixing our country, but ranting and raving morons like you definitely won’t help us get there.
Try to get around Johor in the night, a few of my friends get robbed.
But did they get shot?
LOL! This is such BULLSHIT. As if it’s super easy to just go to school in america, get a job then live there. news flash, getting a work visa aint easy. even getting a tourist visa is hard enough. WHAT? are you a pHD HOLDER or something? published 5 journals & did some other shit to prove to the US government that you qualify to be under the category of alien with extraordinary abilities? cuz even pHD holders from very prestigious colleges admited that the kinda process they had to go thru in order to work there legally aint easy. it’s SUPER DIFFICULT. even simply marrying an american doesn’t guarantee that you get to live there legally anymore, unlike in the past. know why? CUZ THERE ARE REQUIREMENTS YOU GOTTA FULFILL AND THOSE REQUIREMENTS ARE SUPER HARD. & having a good job in NEW YORK in this economy? LOL. thanks for the laugh! you sir, are a great bullshit artist. i guess u still have some of those malaysian shit running in your veins after all, huh? 😉 you misinforming people just PISSES ME OFF!
The biggest problem this country has anybody like you, with that mindset, regardless of race. You grew up watching success stories, the whitest of white people in American prime time TV, living out their breadcrumb free lives, so uptight with sticks up their asses, never having to deal with serious shit like, I don’t know, having to walk 5 miles to get school every day. That still seems to be your idea of America, as suggested by your care free life in New York.
You probably went to a private college, surrounded by your clique of traditionally ignorant, hipster trash friends. You probably have higher than standard earning parents who most probably have a condescending idea of “other” races, thus, your ethnophobia. You said it yourself; you’re a privileged “insufferable little shit”. You have yet to know the real up and downs people who haven’t been rich enough to afford to daydream about life in the US have to endure.
Ahem. US vs MY
EXCUSE ME, how are sweaters even an issue? Working class Malaysians literally live indoors in cold ass shopping malls and office buildings and you can’t excuse them for not being enthusiastic on removing their sweaters when they walk out? BTW that advertisement you hate is endorsed by an American food chain that makes shitty pizza.
“Mat Rempits trying fucking hard to be fucking hard”? Why? Because they don’t live to your badass, “conventional” American standards of what a “gang” is? Because they don’t sag their pants and wear code colors or hide 9mm glocks in their socks?? Because they don’t wear leather jackets, ride together on Harley Davidson or wear pointed white hats and white robes? LOL. Say that again after you get mugged by a rempit. Say that after a rempit beats the shit out of you and then threatens to kill you and your whole family, including that grandma of yours in her retirement home if you refuse to pay for his damaged bike after an accident. Say that to the thousands that have suffered because of gang activities in Malaysia.
The US has its fair share celebratory LGBT bashing as well, just head down to the sunny ol’ south. In Texas, gay people can get married but can’t get divorced, some fucked up cruel joke. Kids in school commit suicide because they were accused of being “faggots” and “dykes” and the bullies didn’t even need fucking guidelines. The senate is too busy passing out laws and bailouts to protect the sorry corrupt asses of rich and elite companies that trick people into buying shitty insurance policies, instead of being troubled to pass laws against cyber bullying. Virtually half the America’s voting populace is faction Christian, white, and republican, and I doubt your next door Mormon neighbor has an exceptional place in his heart for the rainbow tribe.
So, yeah. Have fun getting fat eating American comfort food, getting sent to the hospital after a stroke only to find out it does not recognize your insurance policy. And then I donno. Die?
Lol
Brilliant.
Here here!!
LOL best reply yet
I was reading the comments from bottom to top, and I thought one of the comments down there was brilliant. This sir, knocks it clean out of the water. Hahahahahhaha.
Hi. this isn’t me. It’s just an impersonator whoever.
hahaha…AWESOME respond!! …a BIG punch to his……erm?? face?? LOL
1. “That, for me, is the most hurtful thing about living in Malaysia – the grand lie and the forced acceptance of that lie.”
I don’t really think it’s a lie. Yeah the government and our incompetent prime ministers do lie and bullshit about some stuff occasionally, but nobody’s forcing us to accept it. It’s more like, people know about the greed and corruption in the country but nobody’s doing anything about it. Most people do anyway, and those that don’t… well they’re just either the corrupted ones, the ones benefitting from it or just plain dumb and ignorant. It also has to do with the fact that we Malaysians can’t do much about it, unless someway somehow someday someone steps into the political/governmental ring and actually challenges the “perfected system”, make some changes and become our nation’s superhero. We can’t just pack up and leave and some of us are not as privileged as you. We make do with what we have, ignore the flaws and shit that is our country and carry on with our lives.
2. Personally, I do agree with you that our country’s shit or has gone to the shits. Yes Malaysia sucks, and the brains of our leaders are stuck in the songkoks far up their asses. Nevertheless, it is still home. I myself distance and rarely or almost never dabble in our country’s politics because I don’t see the point of it when it will always be so permanently corrupted. Despite that, I still go home to Malaysia. I go home to my country, to my family, friends, food and everything that I grew up with there. To just throw all that away, forget your roots, and call New York “home”, you either had a fucking terrible childhood, or been in New York sooo long that you can really call it home, or it is just too bloody American of you to say that.
3. You should really clarify whether you’re still a Malaysian or not, mate. Your citizenship will set things straight with many of your readers.
Good write…points on racial inequality spot on.
Frustrated is the word…having to accept mediocirty and live with it.
Having said that, there is hope, albeit a small glimmer.
You are obviously racist. But then again, there’s a
difference between a dscriminating racist and a
discriminated racist.
ahyah in Malaysia, such a small country, compared to the giant-USA, also you cannot handle, wanna talk cock ah brother. Talk only no need money. You lucky your parents earned their money from MALAYSIA. Ask them go USA earn money for you study? FORGET IT. You are like some Singaporean PR saying they come from Singapore but then born in Johor. I bet in reality you are bloody timid. Or maybe always kena bully during schooling time.
Good luck in getting your PR in USA. You will not get it.
YEAH BROTHER
BTW US DOLLAR SO CHEAP NOW BROTHER! RM3.00 LOL
Hi, I’m a Malaysian living far from home for the last few years and for many years to come and soon, because of pressure from my parents and from my own conscience, I will give up my Malaysian passport and become a citizen in another country. So many reasons for making this choice when i am only 19, and yes, one of those reasons is because when i think of malaysia, i think about what an utter disappointment this country is, a slow cooker where everyone goes on with their lives as they are gradually being sucked of every opportunity a human being should. but at the same time, i think of it as home, a familiarity i do not experience in any other place, food of childhood and where i learn values and roots that have brought and will bring me further into my life. however i’m not angry with the country
instead i feel pity.
i feel pity because i know that no matter what, even if it means sacrificing the familiarity of surroundings, and the convenience of living in a place where everything is at your doorstep, nothing will ever, by tooth or by claw, drag me back there. because a home is not really a home when you know that options are limited, growth is slow and you’ll never really have the chance to reach potentials that life promises.
this is why so many people run away. being in malaysia is stifling, but i know many people remain there. they live in their own little bubble and i accept that. they’re happy. a simple way of life. everything is inexpensive. but they are many of us who are not, will never be and have decided that this home can never truly be a home we’ll be proud to return to.
what malaysia needs is to start taking care of its people, giving more than taking, broadening their mindset so that it can be on par with the rest of the world.
i love malaysia but i know it’s bad for me, for all of us. because it will never change for the better.
so know one thing malaysians all over the world, whether you are still one or no longer are, we have NO obligations, responsibility towards this country whatsoever.
I completely agree with you. I moved my family away too, so that my children may have better opportunities .
Somehow, I have this funny feeling that your father worked hard in Malaysia, and that the country blessed him with enough Malaysian Ringgit to send his ungrateful white boy-wannabe son to the US. If that’s the case, you’re nothing more than an arrogant, ungrateful hypocrite.
And the fact that Americans still ask you “where you’re from?” just shows how they still, by default, don’t count you in as one of them. Because to them, you’re just another immigrant. And Asian redneck at best.
Yee haw motherfucker.
Dear Kickdes,
Its not my first time reading stories about people writing their hearts out about their own home country. It definitely isn’t my first time reading stories about fellow Malaysians writing about how incompetent our “tanah tumpah darahku” is. But I have never once felt so irked by what I read and then I realised, it is not anger that I felt when someone sold their country out, it is more cause I sincerely felt sorry for you.
Im sorry but I will have to say this; You.have.serious.issues. Im feel very sorry for you, I really do. Being at your age, being given the opportunity to travel abroad to widen your viewpoint, being submerge in different culture and people, yet you are still so closed minded. You complain about racism in Malaysia when you are racist towards your own kin. You complain about your own home country and you are simply just a foreigner in a foreign land. You think people in New York sees you as one of them? You are just a foreigner there.
You talk about how corrupt and useless our government is. Let me ask you a simple question. Which country in the world, has clean politics? How sure are you that they are clean? So, lets see if I put you in position. You could be president or PM for that matter, would you see things the way you do right now? There are so many things you dont know about and yet you complain.
You said you had a miserable teenage life growing up. You made a promise to yourself to leave this “dodge”. Honestly if you ask me, that just proved to everyone that you have deep issues inside your-oh-so-though exterior. You are simply an egoistic douche who thinks he’s better than anyone else. Oh, by the way, you don’t need to wiki-link words that you think are too hard to understand. I’m a Malaysian and I understand perfectly what those words mean without needing to click on those links, just so you know that Malaysian English are actually up to par with ex-Malaysians who are currently residing in the Big Apple.
You complain about Malaysian creativity? Are you even from the creative industry? Do you know how sometimes creativity isnt the fault of individuals but there are many other factors to consider as well? Such as client requests etc. But lets not put that into detail, you dare tell me that the States never produced horrible ads before? Why didnt you highlight that point?
And I guess, your last paragraph:
“So what makes Malaysia stupider than other horrible countries around the world? How’s it different from destitute countries full of despair like Sudan or Liberia? In those countries, you live every day knowing full well that everything’s fucked and no one lies to you about it. In Malaysia, there is an ever-present bullshit haze of hunky-doriness that somehow allows everyone carry along each day as if everything’s cool. But underneath of it, EVERYTHING’s fucked, you’re fucked, the future’s fucked, and the impenetrable system that perpetuates an endless cycle of greed and corruption has been perfected. That, for me, is the most hurtful thing about living in Malaysia – the grand lie and the forced acceptance of that lie.”
Simply closed the deal for me. You simply dug your own grave 6 feet under and buried yourself alive.
First and foremost, are you telling me you prefer to live in countries like Sudan or Liberia? So you prefer to live in a place where you are constantly in fear and in danger for your life? Where whatever we have in Malaysia, is a privilege and not a birth right? Have you actually been to poorer countries? From the way you speak, I feel you are pretty much and ignorant person who doesnt know much about the world outside of the world that revolves around yourself.
Second of all, “In Malaysia, there is an ever-present bullshit haze of hunky-doriness that somehow allows everyone carry along each day as if everything’s cool”. Let me ask you this. What makes you think Malaysians live ignorantly? What makes you think Malaysians doesnt care? What makes you think that we are not trying to make a change? Coming from a person who fled the country, that speaks alot about standing up and making a difference.
I am not saying Malaysia is perfect, in fact, no place or no one is perfect. Its flaws are as obvious to me as to every other Malaysians out there. But Malaysia is like family. You do not exterminate a family member if it is not healthy. You learn to accept and to make changes step by step. And infact, I am pretty proud of how far Malaysia had come in only simply 55 years of independence. Remember this, what we have; freedom from constant fear during war, roofs over out head, 3 meals a day, our horrible internet, a job, clean water, is not a birth right. Yes, we have a long way to go still, but that doesnt mean we are in a horrible position now. In fact, we are one of the top countries in, not only SEA, but Asia for that matter.
Please do travel and read up more before you talk like a mindless 3 year old and humiliate yourself.
Sincerely,
A Malaysian.
You should have read more before you publish as well. There are indeed a few country have 99% of none corruption. There is an dependent body to check the spending of every single minister. Even their credit card spending are publish if they misused the tax payer money. I get to know a politician, who celebrated his birthday. On middle of the celebration in a night club. A contract was given to him as a birthday present from a high ranking politician in the federal government. But in the end, not sure if he actually accepted the gift.
u ar lucky man….u still can go every whre u want。eat wat ever u want….stay at china o indon or palestine then u know u ar lucky citizen
Malaysia is a beautiful country and all but one thing it lacks is the freedom of expression. Take this, for example. All the author did was express his opinions, but not only do the some of you disagree, you make disparaging remarks and assumptions about him, ask him to get out of the country, etc. You refuse to see both sides of thd coin. It’s because of fucktards like you that the country fails to progress forward as it should. Bunch of bigots; narrow minded ppl who can’t accept any view besides your own. YOU are the type of idiots who bring the country down, hand-in-hand with corrupted, brainless politicians, like our lovely ministers in the education ministry. Look at how other progressive countries allow opinions to be expressed, may they be agreed or disagreed upon. We’re nowhere near that level.
Malaysia is a beautiful country.
But people like you fucking make me sick. You’re not even expressing your own opiniond logically. Just bashing the author.
Thanks for ruining our country, retards.
Maybe it’s in the genes. Maybe something else. Belief perhaps?
But what’s going on the world right now, is one person’s opinionated video (which I haven’t seen), sparking off violence in certain people. Those people are just programmed never to take criticism or a difference in views. And heaps of them live in Malaysia.
Yes, Malaysia is going down the drain because of its citizens who are standing up to someone bashing on their country. Nothing to do with the corrupt government and stupid leaders, none at all.
Accept what view?from a loser like u?survival of the fittest yo,he’s weak,he dont fit in malaysia,he leave, good choice
I know where you’re coming from, and I agree that as a country we NEED to learn to be about a million times more objective with our opinions.
However your argument has a flaw. If you say that people should have freedom of expression, why aren’t the individuals who leave mean and hurtful comments allowed that same freedom? Hasn’t the author clearly exercised his freedom when he unabashedly bashed (pardon, couldn’t help it) his country of birth?
All I’m saying is that if an individual dares to publicly announce something, he should be accountable to face the public’s reaction to it – be it illogical and narrow-minded, or otherwise.
People like you need to stop with all the semantic arguments. Seeing both sides of the coin? People disagreeing and posting disparaging remarks/assumptions about him/her is an opinion in itself. By calling people who disagree with the writer – even the ones that use profanities – “bigots, narrow minded people, idiots and fucktards”, you yourself are admitting to being one of these bigots, narrow minded people, idiots and fucktards, cause you can’t accept different opinions or other takes on the issue.
The writer by posting this on the internet, on a public forum/blog must accept everyone’s freedom of speech no matter how hurtful or retarded.
Im so glad Malaysia is rid of ppl like u. Disgrace to our nation. Please stay in new York. We don’t need losers like u
I have been working overseas for almost two years now (US and South America), but still i feel a sense of patriotism whenever i talk to foreigners about my country. Malaysia is a great country imo but the government is just as corrupted as any government in the world. If you don’t love your government i still think you would still have a sense of belonging if you grew up there.
I can’t wait to be back to Malaysia and be a true Malaysian living Malaysian lifestyle.
And also i can’t wait for this corrupted government to fall…
Cant agree more !!! Just have to wait for the government to fall.
No doubt the new government will corrupt as well. We as the citizen will just have to minimize it.
haha
Couldn’t agree any more with your points. Kick ass articles btw. Tbh, I can’t wait to get out of this dump, corruption everywhere, there seems to be immigrants every corner, been to Petaling Street? Masjid India? It’s horrible. It doesn’t feature our true unity, immigrants everywhere. Scumbag government.
Do you hate the immigrants, or the government that allows the immigrants to come in? If you left, that would make you an immigrant in the country of your choice too you know.
The is no problem letting the immigrants in, just that the government should choose wisely
I have been to more than 50 countries in the world (including America), I think malaysia is awesome!
I agree that thier bias to Malays are wrong but how else to stop the chinese from totally overruning the country and turning it into little china? Unfortunately a large majority of chinese are very race bias. They enter malaysia with money in thier pockets buying everything from plantations to shophouses. They are still the richest citizens by far. Just look who os driving the beamer next time…
I suppose you are a tourist who isn’t from Malaysia? When you mentioned “the chinese”, i supposed you were talking about the Malaysian Chinese. For a moment, think about it, the Malaysian Chinese work bloody hard for the riches, without any help from the government. No special privileges, nothing. Just like the Malaysian Indians, look around, see who are making the headlines, *ps i mean those who are not connected to the politics*
You’re one lucky guy to be able to move out of hell…
I have been living oversees for the last 23 years but i still like malaysia a lot. I go back about 3 times a year. There is racism everywhere in the world or being a minority as well.
malaysia is awesome
Governments are a reflecion of the majority people not the other way round. Bad leaders get to be leaders because people over a period of 50 decades did not focused on what future they want their country to be but on racial issues, exploit the low paid, self interest, money, rat race, greed and loss of community spirit. The result is stark now.
I go agree with you. I guess most politicians know the issue with the government. Just that there dare not to challenge the roots of it. It is most likely they will disgrace themselves and family if they bring this up to the parliment
In other words do what you can for your country not what the country can do for you. This writer is not a leader but a whinger who wants a smooth path and never realised the older generation(such as those in US , Malaysia ) died to make the world free from commnism and freedom where he can run and escape to and whinge about his birth place which he did nothing for , at least try and attend the next Bersih demostration to try make a difference , little boy!
Oh man, now I wanna leave too
By all means, please do.
You’ve already stated how buyers are you to the western culture. So why are you comparing the country with other countries. You’re so blunt and you’re so naive mate. Obviously you’ve not been to India, Myanmar and countries whose government rulings are many times worse than Malaysia. I don’t even want to start with dictatorship where people get shot just for voicing out. You’re one who seems to be living in a comfort zone and enjoying your life as a self-proclaimed new yorker. If you’ve decided to live your life as one, go ahead; but you’re just another wannabe hypocrite who complains about other things. The country has a lot of turn-ofs, but it does have its good side as well. And when you mention stupid country, you do realise you are generalisating all of us and not just the goverment. I don’t even want to talk about the pizza hut video!
If you don’t wanna talk about the pizza hut video, then you shall not comment!
When you say “you do realise you are generalisating all of us and not just the goverment.”, I think it just backlashed at you, YOU, YOUR VOTE contributed to the winning politician/party. You had a choice.
We’ve heard about racismn and sexist in the country but I can’t possibly find a word to describe you! You’re so narrow minded. You’re just like a kid who has found the toy he likes but complains about all other toys as though he has played all of them in his life. How old are you by the way? Anyway, if it’s another publicity stunt just to get attention in the cyberworld, I guess you’ve got it. I reckon you’ll have a large number of comments stomping at you soon.
I think the writer wrote a good piece. But I wish he would highlight that it is not Malaysia that is lousy. Remember, like the writer said, it’s the polluted roots up there. As much as I love western culture (trust me, I love Western food, TV and music a lot too), I also really really love our own culture, our beaches, and even more our people. What’s fucked up is not Malaysia, it is the leaders of the country. Imagine if these bunch of clowns were to lead America, then would we say America is fucked up too? Seriously, don’t judge your country based on your leaders my friend, it’s not what makes us Malaysians. I am proud to be a Malaysian because of where this small country is located and in fact, one thing that is most unique about us is our ethnicity. Remember, having different ethnicity is an awesome thing – it is only not cool when our stupid leaders created a divide among us.
And one more thing you have to remember is that, despite all the tough times we had and all the crap, each and everyone of us Malaysians are still hanging on to a believe that we can make a change. And that is fighting for what we believe – like how other great people such as King Martin Luther had been doing. You see, King Martin Luther didn’t run away from America when he is discriminated. He fought for his beliefs. Isn’t that even more meaningful? And that’s what our new generation is trying to do. And we are proud of that.
Although yes, some of us Malaysians might do very embarrassing things – heck even I do things like ask for discounts, occasional double parkings (but in very considerate manner haha), our Bahasa Campur (mixed languages in a single sentence) – but come on! We are only human, and haven’t you heard that even Angels fall!
And I really dislike certain people (especially those Asians who have grown up in Western countries) who loves to comment about our lives, our English and culture. I am sorry, but when we go to France, does anyone critic their English? Hmmm….I always wonder. I always think they feel they are one level above us just because they have some Western ‘influence’. Trust me, I have a few of these people around me, and sometimes, it gets so tiring listening to them brag.
Some of us might not have the luxury to go overseas, although some of us have. But seriously, when I was in Liverpool, no matter how much I loved that place, I still missed my mamak session, my Manglish and not to mention the sunny warm weather that burns my skin. And if you ask me, that’s Malaysia. Not the fucked up country that you are writing about. Because, what you are writing about are the fucked up politicians and they are everywhere. And please, don’t identify them as Malaysia. Because I am not born inside their heads!
stupid and yet pathetic.
stupid and yet pathetic to the writer.you shouldn’t live in this world.only know how to complaining, not solving.
Yea, i somehow agree , but you’re going too far. i hate the government, but i will never ashamed of where i was born and raised. I’m studying in the UK, but i will never hesitate to tell the world that ‘I am Malaysian’.
agree with u. no gov is perfect. hope to see more from our younger generation to make changes instead of being a coward and start telling people that they are from NY.
congratulations on your choice of leaving, we could do with less retards like you.
you’re no better than those you keep on whining about.
Thank you for writing this shit. Reminds me of my old wtfiswrongwithyou/malaysia(gov) rants
I would just like to say that this is fucking gold. Thank you.
eh, you didn’t leave Malaysia totally behind man, you’ve still got the typical Malaysian ‘blame everybody else but do nothing’ attitude. cheers!
You say all these shits about Malaysia dude, and some i might agree with. BUT i guess you do not see the friendship between the three religions as well. And talking so much shit about Malaysia? I dare you to try living in India or Africa or Timorleste. You might freaking appreciate things Malaysia has to offer, instead of talking shit about a country you were born in.
Dear Hater,
After reading all that you have said about Malaysia I will not deny that what you say is true but please enlightenment me as to where there is no corruption? Every system in this world is corrupted. America is not far from it. The people who created the moneytary system was for sheer world domination and those people who did it are now going bankrupt as the system catches up with them. The medical industry thrives and flourishes on people’s suffering which makes the pharmaceutical companies on the top list of fortune 500 companies. What your doing my dear friend is escapism. You either make a change or just shut up. It takes 1 person to make a change in the world. It took 1 Nelson Mandela to make a change, it took one Buddha to make a change and it took one Gandhi to provide liberation and freedom. Instead of sending hate messages why don’t you spread love. Let it start from you with the hope others may follow.
The author has managed to escape, but the author has never forgot. As a Malaysian in Malaysia, we need someone with something to lead the way or at least to pave the path somewhere because this country right now isn’t even moving forward. We’re moving backwards. This article may not be the best to help improve the nation, but it’s receiving enough attention and that might at least change something.
I feel sorry you felt that way. But we’ll survive with or without you. Happy Malaysia Day!
Best reply so far.
i couldnt agree more. Happy Malaysia Day.
I say F*** you the author of that article.A true Malaysian will criticise their gov for their wrong doing and then do their very best to improve the condition of our country. Being patriotic doesn’t mean protecting BN but to stay with her even no matter what the condition. He is at best a parasite that jumping from host to a better host. This guy is just a white wannabe. If what he said is true, Dr Sun Yat Sen will flee to US and not coming back to the f***** up CHina at that time to have a revolution!
I don’t think everyone should get so hot and bothered about this author’s comments because he does have a few valid points. We must be very honest and admit that the news coming out of Malaysia of late makes us a laughing stock. Between the “Obedient Wives Club”, scandals that include murder- ie – our very own anti-corruption building (obviously not the safest place to be!) and the incessant petty crime that has made snatch theft an everyday thing – what has our country come to?
I left Malaysia when I was 12 and I vividly remember in Kuching (where I”m from) – we had a roundabout with the words “vision 2020” on it. My friends and I who also went abroad to study all had the similar vision – by the time we’d grown up and returned home – Malaysia would be modern and open.
Looking back that’s undoubtedly a naive (and pre-teen) outlook to have. But the way our country has been run into the ground of late is just unbelievable.
While the author has had the luck to study and live abroad – what about the many Malaysians who can’t afford to leave? The middle or lower class who is currently being squeezed and living in a country with increasing crime? Our country was apparently the only S.E Asian country with negative FDI growth. How can we be worse than Indonesia (more corrupt) or Thailand (endless coups)!!
And now – we’re telling the nation to watch out for people in V necks because they are gay??!!!
Malaysians are NOT stupid and Bersih is a sign that Malaysians are growing less fearless and frustrated.
While I too have now left the country, I still call myself Malaysian and love our country and people – home will always be home.
I hope in the coming elections (whenever that is!), we will make a stand. As a friend whose family is in politics told me – it’s just a few bad apples who spoil it all. Well, we need to get rid of those bad apples.
Good. Get Angry. I mean REALLY ANGRY. Then go do something about it …
Malaysia thinks ure the stupidest person to ever come out of malaysia.
Well, then this article just proves the author right no?
No
Lived in Malaysia for a time. Some very nice people, but the Government is out of whack, corruption is rife, and the education system is shot to pieces. Was glad to move away.
To the author, if you check your sources more carefully you’ll see that the MOE has since reported that they DIDN’T endorse that message. Along with plenty of issues in Malaysia, things get taken horrendously out of context sometimes. But that is no reason for the burning hatred you have for your country of birth.
No country is perfect (even your beloved Land of the Free and Home of the Brave). I have American friends who have come all the way to New Zealand (Where I am currently studying) in hopes of planting roots and settling down here. Why? Because like you, they’re disillusioned with life in their home country. Its always a case of the grass seeming greener on the other side of the fence – what matters is which point of view you choose to take.
In my opinion the real problem with Malaysia is that people tend to run away from their problems, or find an easy way out. It’s a disgusting culture, one I am more often than not guilty of as well. But if we all thought like you, and left the country to somewhere better, how will positive change ever occur?
Now I’m not judging your opinions (not that you would care anyway, judging by your aggressive, hot-headed style of writing), you’re completely entitled to have your own. But what I genuinely believe is that if you want change in Malaysia, you do your part, and I’ll do mine. I’m a pessimist by nature, and that pessimist says that its not possible – BN’s never going to lose an election – corruption is going to keep getting worse, and I REALLY could go on all day. But I WANT change, and I’ve decided that I’m going to be part of the solution, not the problem.
Hope you find this needle of a comment in your haystack and read this. It’s after all, only worth two cents. Cheers.
While I am also all for freedom of speech and saying what you feel, frankly it’s really hard to view your thoughts as anything intelligent that contributes to the on-going conversation and movement. In the most physical sense, you’ve never even visited East Malaysia for God’s sake and you left the moment you could and never returned. You’ve never been there to witness the ups and downs, so I just don’t and can’t see how your words validate – which I don’t have a problem with. What I do however, is the further misconception about the country that this entry represents. No country is perfect and Malaysia is clearly so far from it, but singing tunes about your adopted country being so-called better and superior and whatever; well good for you for the better life you live, but shut your trap when you’re not even doing anything to help or contribute to the situation. You don’t even know what the scene is like and generalize overall based on the things your family and friends say; sure, personal accounts – but if they’re all from the same one type of community, one type of demographic, one area; skewed, biased views no? I could so easily have been you and probably was you until I really lived in Sarawak the past few weeks and really engaged in different groups of circle and people from the varied socioeconomic, race, religion and more. Malaysia’s unique that way – there’s a common majority’s voice yes, but when one really delves deep and into smaller demographics, the views are not as easily generalized, criticized and commented on as you did here. But of course you wouldn’t know it – how could you?
More than angry – I’m just ashamed that as an adult clearly older and supposedly wiser than myself, you clearly have yet to step out of the ungrateful, whining phase. Freedom of speech sure, saying what you think – go for it buddy, as we all do too – but walk the talk.
instead of just commenting here we should make a difference. We know what is the problem, dont just complaint but instead fix it! Some might say, how to fix… so long already… just remember, one person may not make a difference… but if many… and i mean maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany! who knows what will happen?
The country is not stupid… the people are smart… you are one of them! we are one of them! so its time to fix this! as a friend of my once said…. enough with trying to close the cracks of a pot with some plaster… its time to change the pot!
You are exactly like your ancestors who fled from their original nations because life is ‘too tough’ at their own country. Your DNA is contaminated with the flight syndrome once things get difficult. That is why when China and India is prospering now, you don’t get shit. If you can’t stand and fight in your own country for what you think is right then you cowards have no say at all. Even though I don’t like the way BERSIH is conducted but I have great respect for the people who believe in their cause and are willing to fight for it. You bitches, just run and bitch. And please continue to run and camouflage yourself as anything that you like because that’s what you are good at. I do not blame you, it’s in your gene. Run bitches, run.
Dude, no one can stop you from voicing out your dissatisfaction as everyone is entitled to freedom of speech but it doesn’t mean you can be so insensitive. I understand how some people find Malaysia a terrible country to live in. However, bear in mind that Malaysia isn’t the worst country after all compared to Singapore and Indonesia as the nearest examples. I’ve lived in those 2 countries before this but trust me, I am so glad I was born, raised and get to live in Malaysia. Yes, we watch movies, tv series and whatnot from the West and we get mesmerized by the “American dream” but enlighten us what America has given you so far? You still pay taxes, there’s still corruptions and you still live as a middle class citizen (I apologize if I’m wrong). Ok fine, no mat rempits, no tacky Pizza Hut ads, no Rosmah… Oh well, I don’t mind the fact that you think Malaysia sucks and now you’ve settled down at the country you love the most, I’m happy for you to be honest but bear in mind that wherever your feet takes you, even if you change your citizenship, your birth certificate still states that you are born in Malaysia. Don’t hate the country just because of the people.
LMAO . This guy comparing like China and Egypt . Dude, two different world. Face it. About politic, yes malaysia full of bullshit. Even ‘American’ also full of bullshit. You just don’t know yet.
And please please please, don’t compare Malaysia with NYC . Just deal with it where you live. If you can’t stand with it, that is mean you really pathetic loser.
Yes. I Malay. Malaysian. I was born at USA. But i was not hoping to leave malaysia and live NYC for all this kind of bullshit.
Fyi, NYC the most dangerous city. I proud to live one of the safest country.
Even though, the government as he’s said is fucked, the reason why you stay a Malaysian is totally different.
There’s a difference between Malaysia and other countries in the world, that distinction is enough for people to stay and be proud to call themselves Malaysian. We are a country, the people here are united through many different mediums, we are weak in many aspects but also have our strengths.
I’m completely against the whole racial advantage and discrimination, without doubt , although many of your views I can definitely agree with, I really dislike the fact that you would call a whole country stupid, naming everyone of us who stay in this beautiful country an idiot. Changes definitely should be made to everything and how our government runs, but this post seems to completely knock off to the beauties and strengths of this country and completely bashes our country, perhaps it’s due to your mad infatuation to leaving the country that this post seems so completely negative towards Malaysia.
I’m Malaysian, and when I go out of Malaysia, I feel uneasy, I’m proud and I want to stay in Malaysia for as long as I can, it’s a great country.
Its always a wake up call for us Malaysians to vote this stinking current government out when there is critique, but you had had many flaws and new developments that have come into place. Maybe you left before March 2008 so you don’t know new developments in politics.
1.You’re ignorant of the political situation/awakening here, that we’ve now got a stronger opposition than ever before since the 12th General Election in Mar 08 & for the first time, chance of a change in govt. is very possible in the coming elections, which must be called by May 2013. Many Malays are fed up with corruption & favouritism by the govt. too, & I’ve met many educated Malays who want their discounts/precedence in getting scholarships (it’s called NEP) abolished.
2.You seemed to have EQUATED the Malaysian government with the country, you got it all wrong, as with many Malaysians. Do you say that US sucks when Obama does something stupid? No right?
3.Although the US a more democratic, less racist, more meritocratic govt. in US, it has its own share of problems & shortcomings, therefore I’m sure life there is not perfect either. You ignored that, but maybe it’s because he’s an Anglophile.
4.Why do you put so much significance with Pizza Hut Ad & stupid statements from ministers/govt depts? For the ad, it’s indoors, so it’s has a/c and it can be cold at times. For the statements, most couldn’t be bothered, most if not everyone, save the paid cybertroopers criticised them. Not the crux of the problem to more pressing Malaysian issues like racism, corruption, high cost of living, etc.
5.The govt. doesn’t really bother about arresting you if you were in Malaysia now, there are a million more who are writing like that in Malaysia, unless you of course target individual(s), then they can sue you.
We’ve chosen to stay in Malaysia because it’s still a FIXABLE country & it is a country still full of hope. There are things in Malaysia you’ll never have in other countries like the US. On an endnote, I respect your freedom of speech and your thinking, but please do more research, especially on the many recent political developments. I recommend you http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/ to keep you posted on politics back in Malaysia. Thanks
Oh yeah, you’d better google Bersih too. 100k protestors of all races came down to the streets to be tear gassed and shot with laced water. I was one of them
And happy Malaysia Day
Well, even I’m not agree on the writing , at least he told the fact that previously long years that Malaysian facing loads of difficulties that forced many Malaysian left away the country to find their source of peace and wealth. In the mean time , anyone who lived outside Malaysia , I guess they may felt the same , they will hear a lot of news , basically is all about the government propaganda. But then, think again , we all didn’t fucked up yet , we’re still on fighting, even in harsh condition, regardless who we are, we all have to face it too one day , even in a “war zone”.
I’m a photojournalist, and I witness it myself anywhere when I covered the news , especially three times BERSIH movement. Forget about the law and political agenda by the government, is the people who finally wake up and reunite again. People who are outside Malaysia may not so understand that well, but here in the homeland, we will tell everything to everyone how we are fighting , how we are think on the current major issues and many more.
I sincerely hope the author, try to think again. I know it’s sucks during past time, but face the future, we have a lot of wars to fight , we have a lot of freedom to fight for , we have a lot of balance that need to seek , and we’re still not fuck up now, we are in heavy armed , we are ready for everything. In homeland, we’re still need all the Malaysian who are still outside country come back and help us to defend the evilness. Because you can change everything just like us.
stupidest? i thought israel & the USA are tied at number 1 as the stupidest. lol. and to sum up malaysia by using one old fast food tv commercial is something like the stupidest also. like me summing up ur whole family tree as being the stupidest only by ur own stupidity. come on now, stupid. after all ur new jersey education, the best word u can use is stupidest? u dont sound like the cleverest also. that to me is stupid
u got some good points that we all might agree on n i applaud ur balls to say it out. but if u call my country stupid one more time, forget the government, because we all might have to hunt u down and beat the yankee out of ur asian ass. lol.
having ur own opinions is one thing, but shitting on the honor of our country is actually the stupidest u could do. so u might want to apologize to the people of our proud nation for disgracing ur family here.
hate the system not the country, stupid. do us a favor n dont come back. u didnt leave here, we kick u out-From Fariz Fauzi
Your article pretty much sums up everything im starting to realize about ever since leaving the country. Would love to get in touch and talk more!!
In this world, no country is perfect. We are all humans and therefore, we judge ourselves and each other. Every each country has it pros and cons. Even in the USA. Do you think americans are happy with their lives as well? They have IRS chasing their necks. Their government are fucked as well. They used to have KKK and all that shit. They also have racisms. Yeah sure, malaysia too. It’s normal. What WE ALL hate is narrow mindedness. The incapability to accept others. I am in UITM and i look like a pure chinese. Imagine how my life is such a torment here. People and lecturers making fun of my look! WTH. I never experienced this when i was in Subang Jaya. Outside of subang? Fuckin loads of people like that. especially malays. SIGH. They have been taught by their folkes and people around them to hate each other. Seriously, dengan perangai kampung diaorang. Because of people like that, I despise this place so much. If you hace realised this, people with open mindset can only be found in concentrated cities/ sub-cities. Outside it? It’s just a shameful left-out crowds. My eyes are opened when i began studying far from where i originated from. I learned that it’s not their choice to be as what they are. Only circumstances.
You are an idiot. Period.
Here is a question for u, name me one country which is near perfect to anyone out there?? Am all out for u being OPEN and frank, but remember there is no place on earth that is perfect and I think u should be a bit grateful not being born in a third world country, then prolly u wld be a bit gratefu because its malaysian money that got u to NY in the first place… And for u to complain about minute things like a commercial?? Clearly ur disposition on things are a lil off the edge… But hey! Kudos to you for living your American dreams! A place full of crimes, anarchists, bullies, and prolly hates people like you… 🙂
yay. i like! its been a long time since someone was brave enough to write up something like this that represents the thoughts of a lot of malaysians overseas. this post just made me have a big wide smile because its so damn true.
Don’t just shock here, back and fight for what’s right …
Our reply to this is a 900-word article of the voices of majority Malaysians who are also discriminated, and marginalised ..but unlike you, we tried (and still trying) to make a change from within.
http://myrumbles.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/merdeka-malaysia-day-special-malaysia-as-the-stupidest-country-whos-to-say/
I tell people I love the country, Malaysia, but I fucking hate the government. They are two different things. Think about it.
I have moved out of Malaysia and no longer paying Malaysian government taxes.
hahaha…boy, so you’re feeling very proud now being able to stay in NY city huh?? a dream land of yours huh?? so what are you now over there in NY?? a Prince of NY already?? staying in a Palace in NY city?? or stay in a low cost apartment??? or maybe staying in a house paid by your parents?? so are you now saying that you hv one of those Happy ending similar to Disney’s fairytales??
haha….personally i love the US too…its a great country….but do keep in mind that, wherever you go, you can’t find perfect place…..there are flaws everywhere
we as Malaysians are totally grateful that we are not suffering from famine, war, sickness and many more flaws that can be seen in third world countries….
so when Malaysia has finally change to a better country, pls don’t even think of making a step back here…ok?? stay there, and i bet things are not gonna be like fairy tale any sooner…
Fucking A! That is a very insightful document. I actually felt the way you did when I was in high school. Somehow I have developed a tolerance.to the idiocy that is my homeland. You have re-ignited my fire !!!!
Bye2…. Hope one day you will see Malaysia is better than US ^^
when they ask where were you when the people of Malaysia finally won their utmost freedom in ruling their country, what will you say? “I cowered and gave up a long time ago so I left Malaysia”??.
you’re the type of people who talks shit the most, but didn’t even bother to act even one bit. It may take a few G.Election but the progress has started, the people who stayed and fought till the very end will get what they truly want. A country is not about its leader, its constitution, it is about the people living in it.
I guess the fact that you went ‘all american’ when growing up in Malaysia contributes the most towards the feeling of hatred you have for Malaysia. Well here’s a fact, we don’t need people like you.
I think most people in malaysia knows this shit. except the elders. because no one wants to change this shitty country, and some just left it, i guess that’s why there’s this story.
I fully agree with you except on one thing….The Malays are not native to the land….they were immigrants too…unless you are talking about the Orang Asli! The Malays were mixed of decents from Java…Bugis…Muslim Chinese…etc.
whats an ignorant cunt Malaysia is an nice country I think you mean the shitholes that govern it are the ones to blame.Cursing on each sentence doesn’t get the point through
Right, so I’ve gotten far more responses than I thought I ever would. I tried responding to as many as I could (http://wp.me/p1sC9Q-so), categorically, that is. Frankly, I’m so bored of this already. Aren’t you? You’ve got to be. Holy shit, I’m bored of the repetitious comments, I’m bored of your overall lack of imagination, I’m bored of the pointless rhetoric, I’m bored of the absence of logic, I’m bored of the delusion, all of it.
Most of all I’m bored of needing to manually approve all the comments that I was given. Because no spam filter is perfect and fuck me if I’m going to harbor spam on my blog. I’ll manually make sure every comment gets added, thank you very much.
I made damn sure every comment provided to me got posted – positive and negative – because every single comment helps make my point. For that, I suppose I owe you all a thank you or something.
Whatever, like I said, I’m bored of this now. So I think I’m gonna disable the comments on this thread. I so can’t be arsed to keep having to push the button to OK every comment that comes in. If you feel like you really must add your two cents to this, please have a read of the other comments here and ask yourself, “Am I really contributing a new idea here? Or do I just like the sound of my fat Doritos-covered fingers tapping a keyboard?” In the monumentally unlikely chance that it’s the former, feel free to respond in the Fallout Edition post or send me a tweet (@KickDes).
The rest of you please feel free to carry on with your lives.
